An exceptional setting for a Championship

The Luberon Regional Natural Park is a unique place of natural beauty which will host the Archery 3D World Championships from 19th to 24th September. It is made up of 95% private land which belongs to a large number of owners, about sixty or so, and the remaining 5% belongs to the town of Robion. It is on this land that the Baude Archery Club 3D trails and competitions usually take place. This is possible on a permanent basis because the landowners have great confidence in the club. Pierre Irigoiti of the World Championships Organization Committee explains, “This is not cultivated land, though there is an occasional olive grove here and there, but we take part in the upkeep of this countryside and certain proprietors can now access their property which was not previously the case. We would also like to make a special reference to Mr and Mrs Gaston Pagnetti who we cannot thank enough for having allowed us to paint the kiosk in the Championship colours with the wording ‘World Archery Championships’ upon it. They have also put at our disposal the area of land which will be used for the warming up sessions and the starting points of three of the courses.” This will be the central point of the Championships, and should therefore be the most memorable.
